‘Take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen and slow to speak.’ These words of James remain as challenging to us today as to the early believers who first received them. Perhaps they are especially hard to follow since many of us are so used to being listened to.
At this Global Connections conference we will practice this skill of listening to global voices. We will be joined by three voices, one each from Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Vinoth Ramachandra brings deep experience of ministry from the Asian context. Vinoth is a well known speaker and thinker, and knows first-hand of the struggles faced by Christians living in minority contexts.
Oscar Muriu, from Nairobi Chapel in Kenya, brings an African experience of church growth and planting. Oscar is passionate about developing leadership, especially African leaders, and has a growing global speaking ministry.
Ruth Padilla Deborst has considerable experience of mission from around the world but especially from her context of Latin America. Ruth has a highly respected ministry which is characterised by passion and wisdom.
These are the voices we will listen to. Behind their voices – for those with ears to hear – will be the voice of God, speaking into our own context to encourage and challenge us.
