This full day event will consist of two main sessions focussed on member care and on TCK care each followed by scenarios to work through in groups. Our two speakers will draw on their wealth of experience to cover the essentials of managing the complex situations that may arise in member and TCK care.
Our first speaker Ian will give a talk on member care issues and related TCK issues, within organisations and what the professional responses should be. He will cover what the main principles are that should be followed, and how to deal with the unique strains and challenges that exist in under-resourced teams when providing this care.
This session will be followed by a practical scenario that participants can work through together implementing the principles Ian has explored.
In the afternoon Rebecca will explore several complex member care scenarios, based on a variety of case studies, focussing on both TCK issues and on those effecting adults.
In small groups we'll look at the role of the sending agency, and reflect on good practice and where the duty of care of the agency lies. Is there anything the agency has missed? What action needs to be taken both immediately and in the longer term? When should the agency intervene, and when should they insist that a family/mission partner returns from the field? There will be opportunity to reflect on the principles that apply in different situations, and to apply the TCK and member care guidelines where applicable.
The aim is to explore how we practically provide the best care in the more complex situations.
As well as all this there will be times throughout the day for Networking with others in your field.
