God’s intention for his Creation is to experience shalom – holistic well-being and right relationship in all aspects of life. A right relationship with self is central to this – but in our rapidly ‘developing’ world this seems more elusive than ever. During this forum event we will be looking specifically at the issue of mental health, and how both churches and relief and development agencies can effectively respond to the challenge of mental health within the communities in which they live and serve (NB our focus will not be on mental health for staff as this has been covered by other Global Connections events this year).
We will identify and explore the theological principles that underpin our response to this issue, and then examine how these principles can influence and impact on our practice in both the setting of a local church responding to mental health in the community around it, and how relief and development agencies can incorporate these principles into their own work with the vulnerable and marginalised.
This event will better equip participants to recognise and respond effectively to the challenges of mental health in the diverse contexts in which our members serve.
The cost is £20 to people from GC and Micah member agencies and churches. Cost for non GC and Micah members is £50. Refreshments and lunch are included in the price. The meeting starts at 11.00am (refreshments from 10.30am) and finishes at 4.00pm. Please complete the form below to book your place.
