Most of our organisations currently debrief parents and children separately. So are there any reasons why we should change our practice so that while continuing with separate debriefing we can also consider sessions with the whole family together?
This day event, brought to you jointly by the TCK and Member Care Forums, will look at the reasons behind family debriefing as well as the benefits and challenges. And a family debriefing “transition” model will be introduced for us to learn from.
Incorporating case studies and interactive training in large and small groups, there will be opportunity to practice some tools for working with one family unit or with a number of families together on a retreat.
We will also consider practical issues such as contracting, guidelines, working in teams, and supervision. And to finish the day we will consider together how family debriefing opportunities could be developed in the UK.
Our speaker for the day will be Christian Quartier. (For any delegates who attended Christian’s training at EuroTCK 2017 – this event will build on his training there.)
The event will be held at the Riverside Centre in Derby, starting at 10:45am (refreshments from 10:30am) and finishing at 3:45pm.
The cost is £20 to people from GC member agencies and churches. Cost for non GC members is £50. Refreshments and lunch are included in the price. Tea and coffee will be available from 10:15am.
Please note: If you are a TCK parent/grandparent/extended family member, or church member caring for TCKs/families overseas - and your church is not a member of GC - please choose the £20 member rate and add an explanatory note in the ‘dietary or access requirements’ box below.
