Pray for those who have been victims of the recent floods and for the local church as they reach out to these victims. For the ongoing refugee work and community centre in Sarajevo For more students based in Banja Luka to come to know Jesus.
Prayer for the Evangelical Church in North Macedonia; Pray for the children and teenagers who came to the summer camps run by the evangelical churches; Pray also for the evangelistic events they are running and towns that will be visited by the ‘Gospel Van’ from Resen; Pray for God to raise new workers in North Macedonia and for the leaders of the churches.
Kosovo is going through a difficult time politically and economically. The national news is warning about the threats of Serbian military invasion in Kosovo. Pray for the peace of God to reign in this region. In the last month over half a million people have left Kosovo, which has brought economic instability. There is also a rise of religious tensions in the country, especially within the Islamic community. We have seen a decline within the evangelical church and the need for workers and missionaries is very high in the country.
Pray for Moldova, the poorest country in Europe. Many people of working age are leaving the country to find work elsewhere. Pray that they would stay and build up the local economy. Pray especially that Christian young men would choose to stay in the country to share the good news and build up the churches in Moldova.
Please pray for Albania. There are few job opportunities for people, especially outside of Tirana, and many people choose to leave the country to find work. Pray especially that Christian men would stay in the country and share the gospel with other men.
Please pray for peace and stability for Kosovo and the region as the situation with Serbia government has been very unsettled recently. The Serbia government do not recognise Kosovo’s declaration of independence passed in 2008. The evangelical Church is very small but growing. From about 80 believers at the outbreak of war in 1998, there are now over 2,000 young men and teens who know Jesus. Please pray for more people to come to know Jesus in this challenging environment, and for the Christian Church to shine like a beacon of light in this small country.
Please pray for people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to come to know Jesus. The Evangelical Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina has introduced a year of prayer for 2023. The country is one of those in the Balkans region with very few evangelical Christians, (0.1%). Politically, the system of government is complex and unstable, even more so following last October’s elections. Pray for stability in the country.
TEN has been in touch with our partners in Turkey, who are keeping us informed about the situation and how to pray. They are not directly involved themselves but are sending funds to an organisation called First Hope Association, who are on the ground. For information on this organisation website: https://ilkumutdernegi.org/en/ We are keeping our supporters updated via social media. We are signposting people who come across our communications to give via those who have partners on the ground who are actively engaged. This could be through the First Hope Organisation, Stewardship or Worldshare, or another. Please pray for all the Christian churches in Turkey as they care for those affected by the devastating earthquakes and pray for those agencies that are actively involved in the rescue and restoration effort.
Please pray for Turkey (and Syria) following the devastating earthquakes in the early hours of Monday 6th February 2023. The death toll is already over 25,000 and rising. The Union of Churches of Turkey are coordinating their response in the region. A partner there has informed us of people known to him who have been trapped under the rubble, some having died. A major challenge to the rescue efforts is the harsh weather conditions which show no signs of turning milder. Our partner has asked us to pray the Lord will work miracles because miracles are needed at this time.
Romania shares a border with Ukraine and so many of the local Christian churches in Romania are helping Ukrainian refugees. Some of the churches are helping Ukrainian children to access school so that they can continue with their education. They told us that they can easily provide clothes, but food is a daily need, so a constant supply is needed for Ukrainian families coming to the church. Please pray for these churches who have limited resources themselves and are doing all they can to show the love of God in very practical ways.
Please pray for Moldova. Moldova is the poorest country in Europe. Not only is it facing a steep rise in fuel and the cost of living because of the war in Ukraine, but it is also facing famine and a failed harvest again this year because of the very dry and hot weather across Europe. Pray for peace in Moldova and for the churches to be beacons of hope in these very unsettling times. Pray for people to respond to the good news of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
