Serve in Atheistic Eastern Germany
Posted on 11 August 2022 by European Christian Mission (Britain)

Description
The North East of Germany is one of the least religious areas in the world. The shadow of its communist, atheistic past looms large today. Many people lost their jobs in 1989 when Germany was reunified, leaving them disappointed and feeling like ‘losers’ - as if they'd failed to adapt to the new political situation and dropped out of society. There is a huge gap between rich and poor. Those who can't afford to live in redeveloped, city centre areas live in deprived communities full of large tower blocks. There are many social problems and many broken families. God seems irrelevant and totally removed from everyday life. Yet people long for loyalty and community, to be noticed, loved and appreciated. Children need parents and other adults who can nurture them. ECM missionaries are living and serving in these communities. We're looking for short term missionaries who would serve alongside us for anything from a few weeks to over a year. To see more about our current opportunities and learn more about the work in Germany, please visit ECM's short term website and search for opportunities in Germany. This could be an ideal Bible college placement or short term experience for anyone who loves Jesus and wants to share the gospel in an urban context. Use your gifts or discover them for the first time. Learn what it means to live the gospel out in daily life and share Christ's love in unconventional ways. We look forward to hearing from you.
Please note that ECM can only consider applications from countries where we have an office. For a list of these locations, please click here. We do not have any offices in Africa or Asia.
