Bassenfell Manor, near Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District, is a residential centre hosting school groups, youth groups, church groups and holidays for individuals. It provides comfortable self-catering accommodation in 19 bedrooms and a separate self catering apartment. It  is situated in an acre of grounds with adventure play equipment with access to its own ancient woodland which is used for various bushcraft and environmental activities. Bassenfell Manor is a registered charity (no. 283247).

Our Management Team will give you a warm welcome. The resident management team consists of two couples. Mark and Debbie Ainsworth, and Chris and Chrissi Ingram. Mark is the Head of Centre. Debbie is the Hospitality Manager. Chris is the Facilities Manager and Chrissi is the Administration Manager. Penny Butler is our community outreach worker, and her role is to facilitate relationship building, sharing faith and instructing outdoor activities at Bassenfell and beyond. We also have five support staff, various volunteers, freelance instructors and tutors.

Bassenfell Manor is owned by Christian Outdoor Pursuits Trust which has 9 trustees. The objectives of the trust are to promote the Christian Faith through involvement in character building training by means of outdoor pursuits.

‘Friends of Bassenfell’ support the work through prayer, practical help and financial contributions. If you would like to become a friend, please contact us.

During 5 weeks of the summer holidays the centre is used by Christian Adventure Holidays to provide an adventure experience for young people aged 12-17 years. Activities include sailing, canoeing, walking, mountain biking, rock climbing and other outdoor pursuits. A great time is had by all, and the young folk go away with plenty to think about, having learnt more about the Christian faith.
