We use sport as a tool to empower underprivileged young people in the townships of George, South Africa seeking to support their spiritual, physical and academic development.

Sports Academy, George operates in the underprivileged townships of George, South Africa. We use sport as a tool to engage and disciple young people, providing them with opportunities for a better future through the coaching, mentorship and career guidance incorporated into our programmes. We are passionate about seeing God's kingdom reign in the townships of George and we want to empower our young people to be the next generation of leaders who will share the hope of Jesus.

We use sport as a tool to connect and disciple young people, providing them with opportunities for a better future through the coaching, mentorship and career guidance incorporated into our programmes. We want our students to be the best version of themselves and so we strive to develop them spiritually, physically and academically.

Our vision is to

Share the gospel of Jesus with all students, helping them to understand their worth and identity in Christ, and teaching them how to fulfill His purpose for their lives.

– To select students each year that are young, talented sports men and women and through the highest standard of sports coaching, competition and mentorship develop them physically, mentally and spiritually.
– To place all students in local churches and involve them in cell groups, one on one mentorship, leadership studies and Saturday night youth club.
– The provision of free education as a school defined in the South African Schools Act of 1996 to the poor and needy.
– The provision of scholarships and bursaries for those in further education and the development of partnerships with local businesses to provide job opportunites for every student that graduates SAG.

Our work is supported by the financial contributions of friends in Northern Ireland.

We run an Internship Programme providing a one year placement in South Africa for school-leavers and graduates, with opportunities in administration and coaching.
