Description
ASSTC and ASLAN
The mission of All Souls Serve the City (ASSTC) is to serve the isolated, overlooked and exploited in London, bringing the message and ministry of Jesus. Our aim in All Souls Local Action Network (ASLAN) is to engage with people affected by homelessness by offering them individualised care, support and friendship.
West End Faith Groups Winter Night Communal Setting 2024/25:
West End Faith Groups Winter Night Communal Setting 2024/25 is an innovative and pragmatic pilot project for rough sleepers based in Westminster. The Winter Night Communal Setting will run for five months, from the end of November to the end of April, across four different faith venues. Each venue will offer individualised companionship and support whilst the guests (re)engage with Westminster Council, pursue Council-directed solutions for the short term, and explore long term solutions. The Communal Setting Coordinator will lead and oversee all aspects of the project and be supported by relief coordinators in order to cover morning and night shifts, seven days/ week for
the duration of the Communal Setting months. They will be employed by ASSTC, the coordinating venue, with support from Westminster Council.
Guests will initially be assessed by the Council as low risk (without mental health or addiction issues) but may be “high need” and then referred to the Communal Setting. For example, they may have been offered government support elsewhere in the UK or at another time, but failed to engage with it due to language, cultural or community barriers, and as a consequence now find themselves rough sleeping in central London- and more ready to engage this time around.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
ASSTC is looking for a Communal Setting Relief Coordinator to assist the Communal Setting Coordinator to organise and coordinate the operational delivery of the Winter Night Communal Setting. You will be responsible to be present and visible at all venues for daily shifts with the Communal Setting Coordinator and other Relief Coordinator(s). You will also need to ensure the Communal Setting is run effectively at all times and that any issues or problems are dealt with effectively and calmly in a peaceful and conflict-free environment. You will also work with referring agencies, Communal Setting teams and guests to ensure that the Communal Setting runs effectively, meets the needs of its guests, and treats guests and volunteers fairly and consistently. Collecting data and managing safeguarding concerns are your key tasks as well.
