Description
This role exists to help participants take confident, well-supported first steps into cross-cultural mission supported by Echoes International, in partnership with GLO Europe, Tilsley College and Counties. It is designed to bring young people closer to God and spark a vision for serving Him across the world.
Established in 2010, FirstServe has been created as a stepping stone programme that will develop and prepare young people for future service, whether at home or on the mission field.
The FirstServe Coordinator is responsible for: overseeing and developing the FirstServe programme; supporting individuals exploring mission service; and ensuring they receive excellent preparation, pastoral care, and practical guidance.
With support from the FirstServe steering committee, the FirstServe Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating the FirstServe programme, acting as the main point of contact for FirstServers and providing pastoral support and guidance through the FirstServe journey. This will involve: training and preparation of FirstServe candidates; home church, partner and host liaison; and promotion and development of the FirstServe programme, to ensure participants feel well-supported and the programme continues to grow and develop.
Strong organisational and administrative skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The individual should have the ability to offer pastoral sensitivity and discernment and experience of working cross-culturally or within a mission context. They should be able to manage multiple tasks independently, with a commitment to the Christian ethos and values of Echoes International.
Salary: c. £24-26k FTE (pro-rata £14,400 -£15,600), depending on experience
Hours: 21 hours per week (can be flexible)
Location: Flexible (with regular online engagement and occasional travel). Echoes International has offices in Bath and Paisley, as well as home-working opportunities.
