Latest Prayers by Soldiers' and Aviators' Scripture Readers Association (SASRA)

Pray that God will guide, sustain and protect our Scripture Readers as they navigate the complexities of sharing the gospel on Army and RAF bases, through delivering Bible studies, running initiatives and engaging in challenging conversations.

1st -7th August: Pray for the SASRA outreach week at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo rehearsals. Pray for opportunities for the SASRA team to share the gospel with those rehearsing and for God’s wisdom and guidance in all conversations.

Praise God for our new and long-term supporters, volunteers, prayer warriors, supporting churches and trusts for sustaining us. Pray that the Lord will open doors to develop more relationships with Partner Churches. Pray that church visits by our Regional Managers and Scripture Readers will be an encouragement to all who attend, and that churches will engage and feel moved to support SASRA as our Scripture Readers bring the gospel ‘behind the wire’ of Army and RAF bases.

Pray for all upcoming events and services that our Scripture Readers will plan and run over the Easter period ‘behind the wire’ of Army and RAF bases. May the Lord equip the Scripture Readers to share the gospel and may serving personnel seek to find out more about the love and sacrifice of Jesus.

Pray for our Scripture Readers, Headquarters staff and SASRA supporters as they start 2026. May they seek the Lord in all that they do to help bring the gospel ‘behind the wire’ to Army and RAF personnel this year. May the Lord sustain the Association in 2026, through supporter prayer, volunteering and funding, so that we can reach more troops with the gospel. May the Lord prepare the hearts of serving personnel at the start of this new year.

Pray for Scripture Readers who are involved in Remembrance Services across the UK in November. May these engagements ignite a passion in people’s hearts to bring the gospel to the military community. Pray for the Christmas initiatives that are being run by Scripture Readers ‘behind the wire’ of Army and RAF bases over December. May serving personnel feel moved to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

Pray for the initiatives that we are currently running to share the gospel behind the wire of Army and RAF bases, and for the interactions between our Scripture Readers and serving personnel. Pray that more Christians would feel moved to pray regularly for the work of SASRA, whether through using our resources or by joining our monthly prayer meetings.

Give thanks that soldiers and aviators serving in our Armed Forces are open to hearing more about Christ. As SASRA Scripture Readers scatter the seed of the gospel, pray it would fall on good soil.

28 July - 1 August: Pray for the outreach week at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo rehearsals. May God open doors for the SASRA team to share the hope of the gospel with those rehearsing at Redford Barracks.

Pray the Lord would protect SASRA’s relationships with the Chaplaincy and Chain of Command. May they continue to see the value of a Scripture Reader presence.

Pray that the Headquarters team would have a deeper understanding of how to raise SASRA’s profile among the Christian public, that more might hear about our mission of proclaiming Christ to our Armed Forces.
