About

About

In the 21st century, the global church still grapples with issues of material and power inequalities. In spite of English being a world language, cross-cultural communication can be treacherous, and the gospel misunderstood. The Alliance for Vulnerable Mission (AVM) helps particularly Western Christians to grow in understanding of indigenous perspectives. This is regarded as essential for contributions to intercultural ministry that honour rather than dominate local contexts.

How we operate

We promote intercultural Christian ministry that deepens cross-cultural understanding - by rooting gospel witness in indigenous languages and local resources, freeing it from dependence on Western models. We advocate for this ‘vulnerable mission’ through our own praxis, mentoring of cross-cultural workers, lectures, online and in-person seminars as well as publications for practitioners and in missiological research.

Our Vision

To see local churches and Christian communities engaging deeply with their context and worldview, experiencing gospel transformation from within.
