Voice of Persecuted Christians is a UK-based Christian ministry, serving believers around the world who suffer persecution for Christ and the gospel.
Previously known as Release International, the ministry is active in around 30 countries, working through local Christian partners to provide practical and spiritual support to those who suffer for their faith.
We invite Christians and churches in the UK to join us, prayerfully, pastorally and practically, in showing God’s love and care to our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.
But we believe that when we in the UK hear the voice of persecuted Christian, they give something to us: flesh-and-blood testimony of the sustaining grace of God in the lives of his people. As such, their voice both challenges and inspires us to live Christ-centred lives, counting the cost of serving him and proclaiming the gospel, wherever we are.
Originally founded in 1968, the ministry was inspired by the life and witness of Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who spent 14 years in communist prisons, and whose remarkable and challenging message was captured in the famous book, Tortured for Christ.
