Discipleship training with indigenous people
Posted on 17 December 2024 by Church Mission Society
Description
Are you passionate about equipping others in Christian leadership? Are you willing to embrace new learning styles and contexts?
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic trainer for indigenous church leaders in Latin America.
This could involve teaching in a seminary setting or at summer schools. You will need to be pro-active in adapting teaching to different contexts. You will be equipping leaders through community-based models of learning and mentoring.
Ideally, you will come with an understanding of indigenous peoples, their culture and a willingness to serve, recognising that listening and learning is key to this role.
Relevant training in theology/biblical studies is required.
You must have a mature and living relationship with Jesus, have experience of engaging with marginalised people and be used to working on the edges of the mainstream.
Fluency in Spanish would be highly desirable or a commitment to intensive language learning, and willingness to learn an additional language in context.
Church Mission Society places individuals, couples and families in over 30 countries around the world as we follow Jesus to the edges. Our placements are self-funding with extensive support in fundraising given to those who serve long-term (three years or longer). All placements are subject to our safer recruitment procedures, including DBS clearance. Church Mission Society is only able to directly test the calling of those who are rooted in UK/European churches.
