Samaritan Residential Schools is an English medium co-educational school that has restarted anew. Founded on Christian values and Biblical principles, the school provides quality education for disadvantaged children. From June 2023, fee paying students will also be admitted. Located in Elagiri Hills at an altitude of 3500 feet, it is halfway between Chennai and Bangalore in South India. The climate is European that is enjoyable and pleasant. The present children are between 2 and 17 years in school. More children will be admitted as the need is great and as others come to know about the school. The school draws from a several curricula like Education For All - a Christian bridge curriculum, NIOS, Forest School and Montessori. There is a plan to include IGCSE. The present children are from Tamil Nadu and refugees from Manipur. However, historically, students have come from all over India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, South Korea, African countries, the Middle East and South East Asia.

Applicants should preferably have the following skills, qualifications and attributes:

• Committed, practicing Christians - fluent in English with relevant educational qualifications and experience.
• Willing to serve on local Indian salaries.
• Willing to participate fully in the life of a growing boarding school as per institutional needs.
• Short-term and long-term volunteers.

The campus has hosted short-term volunteers from Europe and other countries, mostly non-Christian but would love to have more Christian volunteers. Our children would greatly benefit from watching Christian conduct and values in practice. We are open to having volunteers, both young and old, including families who can come for a short period. They will be welcome to serve and have a cultural exchange and experience.

We would like short term volunteers to serve for six months at a time to help in the school and beyond. We also welcome volunteers for shorter periods from a few weeks to a few months as per their ability to come and serve. We would also love to host older people who may retired or taken time away from work. The staff and students will greatly benefit from the interaction and the gifts and talents that these volunteers can exhibit and contribute with. Volunteers of all ages bring a new perspective and a different part of the world most of our children would be unaware of. They also bring new insight and widen the children’s horizons as well as help them grow in new ways. Volunteers will not only experience a new culture but develop cross cultural skills. They will learn how being Christian in a different culture can be quite varied and diverse but also bring in unity and harmony because of what God does in the hearts and minds of His children. It helps develop new perspectives and the ability to adapt to a myriad of situations and help prepare for a life rich with experiences and new understanding. We are also looking for remote and virtual volunteers.
