Description
LOVED Children’s centre, is a JENGA project that is situated in Namatala. It is a day centre for children with various additional needs. We are currently looking for one or two positions to work alongside and support our existing team of Ugandan special needs teachers.
We would love any one with experience in speech and language skills, who could help our team to explore different methods of communication with the children. Uganda generally has a lower awareness of intellectual disabilities such as ADHD/ Autism, and so helping both the team and wider community to identify, understand and support these children would be beneficial. We are also seeking an SEN Early Years Teacher who can help develop our current learning environment.
We would also appreciate someone with experience in physiotherapy who could work alongside our existing part time physiotherapist (who comes once a week) to support the team in implementing physio with children who have a range of physical needs such as cerebral palsy. LOVED currently works with 15 children with special needs on a daily basis, and 150 children in the community on a termly basis and there is an opportunity to offer sessions on play and education to the wider community on a more frequent basis where desired. The ideal candidate(s) would either have a certificate in Physiotherapy or a minimum of 1 years’ experience with children with SEN.
