With profound sadness but unshakeable hope in our risen Lord Jesus Christ, we announce the homegoing of our brother Rev. Terrick (Terry) Barratt on Thursday 19th February at his home in Seaton, Devon in the UK. Photo shows Terry and his wife Frances 'Pancha' Barratt.
As founder and former Director of SEAN International, Terry’s life provided a radiant testimony to the faithfulness of God, and his legacy will continue to shape Christian disciples and leaders for generations.
Terry’s vision to serve God´s church was born from an earnest burden to see accessible, Biblical training made available to every believer, irrespective of geography, educational level or cultural background. Under his leadership, SEAN International became an interdenominational ministry dedicated to providing ‘Theological Education by Extension’ (TEE) - a method that brings Scripture-centred training directly into local churches around the world.
His leadership helped to shape SEAN’s mission to see local churches empowered for whole-life discipleship, mission and ministry in their context, and helped to provide accessible, Biblical training materials used by hundreds of thousands of believers every year in over 100 countries and in more than 70 languages around the world.
Terry’s life reflected the enduring truths of Psalm 23 - the Shepherd’s promise of care, presence and eternal hope: ‘The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.’
Through every challenge and opportunity, Terry walked in deep dependence on God’s provision and guidance. ‘He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.’
His ministry drew countless people to the peace and nourishment found in Christ and in His Word. ‘Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.’
He faced trials with courage rooted in Christ’s presence and pointed others to the same sure comfort. ‘Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.’
We give thanks that he now dwells with the Lord whose name he proclaimed with passion and love.
Terry was humble yet resolute, prayerful yet pioneering. He modelled servant-leadership and theological clarity, reminding all who knew him that Biblical discipleship must be rooted in Scripture, shaped by prayer and expressed in service.
Though SEAN’s ministry has grown beyond his direct stewardship, its heartbeat remains true to the principles he championed - discipleship that empowers, training that equips, and the Gospel that transforms lives wherever SEAN courses are used.
He leaves behind a rich legacy: a global community of disciples strengthened by God’s Word, leaders equipped for service, and a ministry that continues to proclaim Christ faithfully around the world.
May we honour his memory by advancing the Great Commission with the same zeal and devotion that defined his life.
‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’ Matthew 25:23
