Ben says:
“I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve the wonderful network of Global Connections and the amazing people linked in with it.
Having been the beneficiary of several Global Connections ministries over the years, I feel deeply humbled and privileged to be taking on this role within the network and wider mission of God.
I am married to Esther, and we have two ever growing boys, Josh (16) and Zach (14) as well as our dog Chica. We are living down near the coast in East Devon and we love any opportunity to get outside and connect with family and friends, especially if sport is involved. I’m still (perhaps unwisely!?) refusing to finally hang up my own rugby boots but in reality, weekends are now more about cheering Josh & Zach on in their rugby pursuits!
Ever since becoming a Christian in my late teenage years I have really felt God’s call to engage with His mission in both the local and global contexts. This has led me into working for local churches, international development NGOs, charities addressing UK poverty, international missions and social enterprises. One key learning for me that has been reinforced time and again, is the critical role that we and the relationships we hold with each other play in God’s plan to bring lasting impact. He is the one with the power to bring the change we desire, but He chooses to work in and through us individually and collectively. The heart behind Global Connections to ‘Connect, Explore, Equip & Inspire’, as we come ‘Together for the future of mission’ resonates with my own heart’s desire and sense of calling, and I am excited about serving alongside you all.”
Writing on behalf of the board, Alan Tower, Chair of Trustees, says:
“Ben has substantial intercultural experience and leadership skills, as well as a people focused heart.
We can look forward to him drawing the network together and leading it forward, as we collectively work to address and respond to current and future challenges. Please be praying for Ben as he settles into the role, and in his early contacts across the membership in the coming weeks and months.
The trustees are also particularly thankful for Chris Wigram for stepping in as Interim Chief Executive in recent months. He has facilitated excellent engagement and has laid the groundwork for a smooth and encouraging handover to Ben.”
Ben will commence in post on Monday 24th June 2024. Before then, he will attend our upcoming Passion for Mission event in Oxford on 20th June – and would love to say hello to you there.
Please pray for Ben as he prepares to start as the new Global Connections CEO.
