In an ordinary and quite unremarkable home a group gathers on sofas in a living room. Drinks are passed around, and a few snacks are available as the big screen comes to life. Everyone relaxes in the friendly camaraderie of local acquaintance.
A video begins to play. As the title sequence fades, the film cuts to a desert road where a driver is confronted by someone running out in front of him. He offers a ride and as conversation begins, his passenger relates a nearby encounter with a man who gives him water and asks unexpectedly deep questions. The man gives him a letter and then disappears. The passenger reads the letter to his new friend: I am the Alpha and the Omega. I enable the thirsty to drink from the spring of the water of life.
So begins a series of videos, as the driver becomes a host who invites the viewer to join him on his own journey of discovery through the stories of the Old Testament Prophets to encounter the Messiah, the source of that spring of life.
The home could be anywhere. The participants could be anyone: men or women, mixed groups or families. They could be from one place or come from many nations. They could be meeting in a one-room apartment or in a luxury guest house, a classroom or a church basement, on the factory floor, or under the shade of a tree. Guests could be from any faith background, or no faith at all. They all come with their open and honest questions.
Conceived on the streets of Cairo in the early 2000s, and birthed through prayer-filled conversations across continents, Al Massira presents a Journey with the Prophets to discover the Messiah. Developers, theologians and scriptwriters worked internationally to bring the age-old story to life in the contemporary way the Lord was revealing. Filming took place in thirteen nations across Europe and the Mediterranean and resources in Arabic and English were launched in 2011.
The thirteen episodes comprise a medley of drama; graphic illustration; vignettes from experienced teachers of Middle Eastern origin; and interviews from the streets, along with presentation by the host. As the journey unfolds, the series responds to some of the most challenging questions facing the gospel – How can God have a son? How can God be three in one? Why did someone need to die so that God might forgive our sins? Each episode comes with its own set of questions to provoke a conversation in search of eternal truth. Now available in forty-five languages with more in development, the Al Massira Journey (view a three minute introduction here) is distributed through training events, via a private access website and through an app. Training in the theological and presentation philosophy of Al Massira has been hosted in more than ninety nations around the world, and use has extended well beyond those borders.

From representatives around the world the Al Massira office in South Wales in the UK receives regular testimonies of changed lives.
Brother Y in Malawi sent the story of Abdou, formerly a respected teacher in an Islamic school devoted to his faith and community. He was having vivid dreams of a man offering him a brilliant light and eventually came to believe that the man was Jesus. Though filled with doubt and fear about what it could mean, he met with a Christian neighbour who introduced him to Al Massira. He was captivated by the videos, especially the story of Ibrahim and Sara, making the story of God’s redemption come alive. Through watching and reflecting, a peace settled in Abdou’s heart, and he made the decision to follow Christ.

Meanwhile from a Brazilian partner came a testimony from the Middle East:
We were doing a study with a woman from Muslim background, using the material from Al Massira. We were analyzing the names given to the Messiah in the Old Testament and how Jesus used each of them in his speeches about himself. In the part of the study when Jesus reads from Prophet Isaiah, about the anointing of the Spirit of the Lord upon him it became clear to her that God the Father sent God the Son, anointing him with the power of the Spirit, and that the three were present in the scriptures since Genesis.
It was moving to hear our friend say: “It’s all clear to me now! How could I never have seen this truth? It’s clear as daylight that God is a triune God, one in three persons.”
The Journey is also impacting groups of people. During the early months of 2025 a partner in Northern Ireland hosted a group of more than one hundred refugees. This was followed in the spring by the baptism of sixteen new believers.
The Al Massira Trust has embarked upon the development of a second set of resources. Journey Together will present a discipleship journey through the great discipleship themes of the Book of Acts. The new resources will be delivered through an interactive app for small groups to use. Many who explore this material will be endeavouring to birth the community of Christ in places hostile to the gospel where the church has limited presence. Their journey will identify with the struggles of the early disciples in a world of persecution where the Community of Christ was a completely new concept.
