Come See Go Tell - Transformation not Trips
Posted on 28 August 2025 by Global Connections

Mission Africa partners with local churches and ministries in Africa to obey Christ's command to reach the lost with the Good News of Jesus, demonstrate His love and make disciples. Our short term discipleship programme Come See Go Tell is one way in which we seek to obey this command.
At Mission Africa we don’t believe in short term trips, but are convinced that short term teams have the potential to transform the lives of those that go, as well as encouraging partner ministries and long term missionaries in Africa.
In 2023 we launched our short term discipleship programme ‘Come See Go Tell’, words taken from the passage in Matthew 28:5-7
5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” (NIV)
Come See Go Tell is an invitation for our volunteers to:
- Come and See what God is doing in His church in Africa and how you can encourage our partner ministries.
- Come and See how God can use the gifts he has given you to serve him and to share the gospel.
- Come and See how Christians worship in a culture completely different to your own.
So that you can…
- Go and Tell your friends and family what you have seen and how you have grown in Christlikeness.
- Go and Tell the gospel to those at home using the gifts you have grown in, and from what you have learnt while being in Africa
Maybe you will even feel called to go back long term to continue to Go and Tell the gospel in Africa…
The programme runs from January to November, meeting in-person in Belfast, this involves:
- Monthly meetings for 6 months before going on team between January and June
- 2-3 week team in July/August or a longer individual placement
- Three meetings after the team from September to November
These sessions delve into God’s word, specifically looking at the apostle Paul’s letter to the church in Rome. The sessions explore the biblical basis for mission, discussing common issues within short term teams, having space to get to know and pray with your team.
Read a few quotes from our volunteers on what they learnt through the programme:
“The most important thing I learnt whilst engaging with the CSGT programme was the need for cultural humility whilst serving on mission. Throughout CSGT we explored how we love and minister well in a different cultural context without coming in as the ‘white saviours’ but as members of one body Paul talks about constantly throughout the epistles” - Short Term Volunteer
“My key takeaway from CSGT was something that struck me from the beginning when we talked about how the goal of short term mission team was not only to share the gospel but it was, and still is, life transformation; both for those we serve but also for us as a team…this helped me to see the bigger picture which is God’s mission and the privilege it is that He allows us to be a part of it” - Short Term Volunteer
This year we had over 70 volunteers as part of the programme, serving in both Kenya and Nigeria. These teams and individuals have been involved in the following ministries:
- Holiday Bible clubs in schools and churches
- Training teachers in SEN schools
- Bible studies with teenagers
- Midwifery and medical placements
- Sports evangelism
- Street evangelism
- Schools outreach
We would love you to consider joining the programme to play your part in making disciples of all nations.
The Come See Go Tell programme is open to church teams and individuals as well as the specific teams we advertise. The programme is for anyone over 18, no matter what stage of life you find yourself in!
Application for Come See Go Tell 2026 is opening in late November 2025.
