Cameroon – Reach Beyond

Give thanks that a new hydro-electric system has been installed at the Mbingo Baptist Hospital in Cameroon. This means that they now have a much-needed, reliable supply of electricity and can start to produce purified oxygen for Covid patients. A LINAC radiotherapy machine has been donated by a cancer centre in Wales and this is to be shipped to the hospital soon. Pray for all the complex logistics of getting such a large piece of equipment such a great distance. Pray that nothing will be damaged and that this machine can be a real blessing to cancer patients in that region.

Baggara Arabs & Shuwa Arabs

Members of this people group are found in eight countries in the world. Pray specifically for Cameroon, Niger and Sudan, where these Arab communities are most unreached. For Sudan where they are called Shuwa Arabs, pray for a full Bible translation in Sudanese Arabic. Pray for workers in these countries to communicate the love of Jesus, in word and action, to these 3.7 million Baggara/Shuwa people.

Bible translation in Cameroon

Cameroon’s people are going through a challenging time. Bible translation is happening in various areas and the translation teams would value our prayers. There is a great deal of uncertainty for the people of Cameroon, yet we also worship and believe in a God who loves us and protects us. Please pray for serenity, peace and calm in their hearts despite the violence, killings and lawlessness around them. Pray for those who have been relocated, that they will have peace of mind during this time of transition. Pray for international awareness of the situation to grow and for divine intervention to prevent more violence.

Lack of study materials

The culturally complex nation of Cameroon has seen a remarkable growth of evangelicals over the past 30 years, after a long history of nominal Christianity. There is much to hope for. But resources are scarce. A Cameroonian Bible scholar explains, “Our primary trade language is French. That is what most people can read. But although we have a French Bible, there are very few study materials for those who wish to go deeper in their faith”. Please pray for skilled French speaking evangelicals to take on the task of composing study helps for pastors, professors, teachers, and all who desire to know Him more through His Word.
