Senegal

Just a few years back the first Christian radio station was planted in Senegal with the help of Reach Beyond and their audience has been steadily building ever since. We are now preparing to send 300 solar powered radios and audio Bibles to this station as they have a new strategy to use these radios to help with Discovery Bible Study and Discipleship groups. The radios are pre-tuned to the Christian station and will be in great demand. Please pray for many to hear about Jesus for the first time through these radios, and for the station to be encouraged as they see their ministry expand and bless new believers.

Indigenous to West Africa, the Mandinka people number around two million. In Senegal, fewer than 1% of them are Christians, as the predominant religion is Islam (98.8%). Pray that many more Mandinka will hear the good news and come to know Jesus.

In Senegal, West Africa, at least 50,000 children are trained by teachers at Qur’anic schools to beg for money on the streets. Children in these schools often live in ‘slave-like’ conditions, begging for up to 10 hours a day and then handing over what they have earned to their teachers. Pray for an end to this practice, not only in Senegal but in other Muslim communities where it is also taking place. Pray that God would move in power in these situations and that He would open the eyes of government and community members so that this would be prevented from continuing.
