Missionary Deployment Survey - Oct 2025

Background

In September 2025, Global Connections conducted a survey among its network members. The primary aim of this survey was to gather data on the annual movement of missionaries from the United Kingdom. Specifically, the survey sought to identify the number of missionaries being sent abroad each year, those returning from service, and, of those returning, how many chose to continue their service within the UK.

Survey Design and Distribution

The questionnaire comprised 18 questions and was distributed to all 250 members of the network and the wider UK mission community. Respondents were asked to provide detailed information to help build a clearer picture of missionary trends related to the UK.

Response Rate and Limitations

The survey was completed and returned by 28 organisations, resulting in a response rate of just 11%. While the findings have been collated and summarised in the attached report, the relatively low participation rate significantly limits the reliability of extrapolating these results to the broader network. As such, any interpretations or conclusions drawn from this data should be approached with caution.
