This online workshop is designed to provide anyone involved in Christian ministry with an opportunity to reflect on their marriage and to grow in understanding and intimacy with their spouse. It is also suitable for anyone who supports married couples in ministry and is seeking insights and tools for their work.
Aim and objectives
Integrating Biblical truth with the latest research in psychology and neuroscience, this workshop seeks to explore both the challenges and the rewards of marriage.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the particular challenges faced by married couples in Christian ministry.
- Describe how research in Interpersonal Neurobiology and Attachment Theory support a Biblical understanding of human relationships.
- Define the notion of “couple fit” and understand some of the factors that contribute to how we choose our partners.
- Identify the key negative relational patterns that couples can get stuck in and why they occur.
- Access key conversations that can help restore understanding and connection.
- Define practical and accessible strategies for ministry leaders to safeguard their relationships.
Who should attend?
Couples and individual participants are welcome to attend this training, whether you are seeking help for your own marriage or offering pastoral care for couples.
Your trainer: Mark Snelling (MSc, MBACP) is a seasoned counsellor and psychotherapist with many years of clinical experience in a broad range of international settings. Alongside his specialist training in trauma, he is also certified as a couple therapist in Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT) and has supported many couples both in the UK and overseas. He has also designed and delivered workshops and seminars on trauma, relationships and other psychosocial issues. Alongside his private practice, he and his wife Jennifer run High Meadow Retreat in southwest England, which offers counselling, coaching and debriefing to anyone in Christian work in the UK or around the world.
