Event Details
Just the mention of tax brings most of us out in a cold sweat. When should it be paid? What needs to be declared (or not)? How do we negotiate the murky water of tax avoidance while not paying more tax than necessary? These are just some of the questions we need to consider. Add tax residency rules into the mix, and procrastination starts banging on the door asking to be let in.
It’s been a few years since the Global Connections network was blessed with the insight of a tax expert who understood the nuances of how UK tax laws and regulations impact those working in Christian ministry within the UK or overseas. The recent addition to the network of Wealdon Field Tax Advisers (founded by Dan Field), is therefore, a wonderful blessing.
During the first session of this two-part event, Dan will guide us through:
- A high-level overview of the UK tax and National Insurance regulations that might impact anyone working for a UK mission agency, church or organisation
- An overview of the rules on UK tax residence and how the apply to UK citizens working partly or wholly overseas, including issues to consider when returning to the UK for home assignment.
- Highlights of the main tax-related considerations in respect of UK-based pension and savings plan contributions.
Session two will be determined by key issues, questions and feedback received during and after the first session.
About the speaker:
Dan Field is, first and foremost, a Christian accountable to God above all else. His faith is what inspires him to do his best in whatever he does, and that includes giving the best advice he can to his clients. Add in his specialism as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, and it makes him one of a rare breed who is dedicated to helping those in Christian ministry navigate the complexities of tax compliance.
When not crunching the numbers, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, Sophie and their three daughters, playing games and exploring beautiful places around Kent and further afield. He also enjoys watching his local football team, Tonbridge Angels, an experience all the more enjoyable in the company of his daughters!
