Cambodia

We pray for our partners in Cambodia and the children of the graveyard preschool. “One who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth, and one who gives gifts to the rich both come to poverty.” Proverbs 22 v 16. Pray for: our partners Bethel Mission Organisation and their commitment to marginalised children; effective learning for children attending the preschool; families struggling with insecure work, inadequate housing and poor sanitation; good integration into local schools for preschool children wisdom in developing this work.

From 25th to 31st August we pray for our Harvest Appeal, helping to prevent hunger for children we support worldwide. Please pray for: - a positive response to the appeal - wisdom for our partners in countries affected by drivers of food poverty, especially drought in our African projects, conflict and economic instability - families struggling to provide even one meal a day - wisdom in developing work to protect against food insecurity, as well as resources to feed children where necessary.

Mekong Minorities – The Dong people group live in very remote areas in the region around the Mekong River. Pray for creative ways for gospel workers to share the good news of Jesus in these areas.

Please pray for Al Massira International and for several trainings (some already underway) in countries in SE Asia. A worker couple are witnessing to Middle Eastern students; others are witnessing to people from East Asia; others are witnessing to SE Asians. Please pray for another training in the SE Asia region next month. May the AM resources (currently translated into 38 languages), continue to help resource the Body of Christ to further train and equip Brother and Sister-workers in their faithful, prayerful pursuit of reaching precious people from all nations, with the glorious Gospel. To the glory of God!

Give thanks for the recent festival celebrating 100 years of Protestant missions in Cambodia. Held in the capital Phnom Penh at the end of January, the Cambodia Gospel Centennial Celebration included exhibitions, concerts, dances and children's activities. Pray for the conference vision statement - that Cambodia would become 'the aroma of Christ in Asia and around the world' would be fulfilled.

Western Cham in Cambodia: The Western Cham are found near Cambodia’s main cities. They had a flourishing empire, covering southern Vietnam until the 1400s. When their territory was invaded, the Cham fled to Cambodia. Cham villagers are very poor and follow a distorted form of Islam. Pray for those currently ministering among these people to make progress and see a spiritual breakthrough, as there has been limited fruit so far.

Bamar of Myanmar & Cambodia: The Burmese people are largely buddhist and have had a turbulent history. Thousands have fled to other countries, such as Cambodia, due to the instability of present-day Myanmar. The people need peace and stability. Pray that Burmese people will encounter Jesus and find that his peace and security speak into their hearts and lives.
