Latest Prayers by Church Mission Society

In the Chaco region of Paraguay, CMS mission partner Tim Curtis is involved in producing discipleship training and study materials in local languages. Tim asks for prayer as he works on the Énxet dictionary with translator Asunción Rojas, and as they relate to local Énxet indigenous teachers as they prepare language materials for their schools.

We give thanks with CMS mission partner Garry Ion for the few people who come along to the Friday morning fellowship at the Community Shed in Carlisle. Praise God for those who just sit and listen and the one or two who have started to share prayer requests and are joining in prayer.

Please pray for Rosie and Stu Bayford as they lead a community market in Aguazinha, Recife, Brazil. Pray for more partnerships with supermarkets who can supply food and for people who will be able to help with transport. Pray too for continued unity between the volunteers and families who attend the market, and that they will be open to hearing about Jesus.

CMS mission partners Nabil and Sarah Shehadi are based in Lebanon, where Nabil serves as Alpha Levant coordinator and Sarah manages hospitality and administration, and runs courses with Nabil. Pray for the development of the fully contextualised Middle East North Africa Alpha film series, which they hope will reach 430 million Arabic speakers.

Pray for people across the Arab world to encounter the gospel through testimonies such as those told through short, powerful films created by CMS local partner Tamar Dawood, based in Lebanon. As Tamar’s powerful films are shared on social media, pray for people to be drawn to Jesus.

CMS local partner H serves the region of North Africa by equipping young people in this part of the world to reach their nations with the gospel. H is planning to record Bible teaching and messages that will encourage and strengthen Muslim background believers. Please pray for his recording studio to take shape and for his recordings to reach many people with God’s love.

“Let there be light!” CMS mission partner H, who disciples and trains new believers in the Middle East, asks for prayer for the Light to pierce the darkness and for the spiritual veil to be lifted so that people have a desire and hunger to seek God and his truth. Pray for H and others as they lovingly and sensitively invite Muslim people to follow Jesus and for wisdom in discipleship so that people’s cultural heritage is celebrated rather than discarded.

CMS mission partners J and S ask for prayer for strength and unity among believers in their small, Muslim-majority town in North Africa. Pray for more opportunities to share the good news and for protection for those seeking to know more about Jesus. Pray for J as he looks to build up the leadership of the church he pastors.

As CMS mission partners Azaria and David Pocasangre journey with young people in Guatemala, pray for young people’s hearts to be open to Jesus. Pray also for the families of these children as Azaria and David look to support them. Pray too for David as he starts leading music workshops with children and young people.

Society Local partner Isaac Goh recruits, trains and sends people out for mission and development work in rural indigenous communities in Malaysia. Isaac writes that though there are churches, many of them are without a pastor and lack Bible teaching and discipleship, leaving them weak and vulnerable. Please pray for Isaac as he works with others to meet the need for leaders to disciple the rural churches.

From his base in Jordan, CMS local partner Medhat is building a network of evangelists throughout the Middle East through visiting and training volunteers and following up with individuals. Please pray for Medhat and those he works with, for God’s guidance as they share Jesus with people and grow the network.
