Please pray for our partners, Community Concern, in Sri Lanka. Pray for: - children at the Morning Star Care Centre, giving thanks for the opportunities they have to study, be creative and thrive - the Field Officer, who works hard to connect with families in need - children with HIV/AIDS supported through the Kadella Centre, for good nutrition, and to thrive despite poverty and stigma - success for young people and women learning skills to support themselves.

From the 8th to the 14th of September we are praying for our partners' efforts worldwide to improve literacy - marking World Literacy Day on the 8th September. Pray for success and provision for: - our partners operating formal schools in India and Kenya - our partners running informal education initiatives, in Sri Lanka, Syria, Malawi, India and Bangladesh - our partners working to improve literacy, in extremely difficult conditions, in Myanmar and South Sudan - Pray for all the young people these initiatives seek to help

From 25th to 31st August we pray for our Harvest Appeal, helping to prevent hunger for children we support worldwide. Please pray for: - a positive response to the appeal - wisdom for our partners in countries affected by drivers of food poverty, especially drought in our African projects, conflict and economic instability - families struggling to provide even one meal a day - wisdom in developing work to protect against food insecurity, as well as resources to feed children where necessary.

Local partner Russell de Alwis is church relations and training coordinator at LEADS, an organisation in Sri Lanka which works with abused and traumatised children. Praise God for the time and effort Russell has invested in awareness-raising programmes for parents and children over the past year. Pray for children to be rescued from abuse as more people learn to recognise the signs of child abuse and speak up on their behalf.
