Sri Lanka

We pray for initiatives supporting vocational training, essential for those unable to complete secondary education. Pray for wisdom and blessing for the Skills Centre in Soroti, Uganda, supporting teenage girls, the Young Mums project in Kampala, Uganda. The young people supported through our Moving Forward Fund women’s self-help groups in Ethiopia and Sri Lanka, helping to stabilise vulnerable families and young people at the Morning Star Care Centre, Sri Lanka.

We are praying for our 50 miles in 30 days challenge throughout January, particularly for the funds raised that will support the Kadella Centre in Sri Lanka. Please pray for: deeper donor relationships through the 50 miles challenge; a successful start to our fundraising year; the team at the Kadella Centre working with people affected by HIV/ AIDS; HIV+ children benefitting from the feeding programme we fund; an end to discrimination and stigma for those affected by HIV/AIDS in Sri Lanka.

Local partner Russell de Alwis is church relations and training coordinator at LEADS, an organisation in Sri Lanka which works with abused and traumatised children. Praise God for the time and effort Russell has invested in awareness-raising programmes for parents and children over the past year. Pray for children to be rescued from abuse as more people learn to recognise the signs of child abuse and speak up on their behalf.
