In the week before Christmas, praise God for Jesus! We remember children who experience - as He did - inadequate housing and poverty. Please pray for children like: • *Henry, living in a tumbledown shack on a patch of land liable to flooding in Kampala, with his mum, both of whom are HIV+, • twins *Percy and *Polly, living in a tiny shack in Kibera, Kenya, with their grandmother who makes and sells an illicit brew • displaced children in Myanmar and South Sudan • the children of Dehiwela beach slum in Sri Lanka.

Church leaders are ambassadors for peace; they can heal the hurts that divide people and promote unity.‘I believe that church leaders should be present in everyday life, engage and invest in the peaceful processes in their country,’ says Rev Onesphore Ndayizigamiye, who attended a Tearfund workshop in Burundi about promoting peace. ‘They should not be afraid, but step up, because their role is very important.’ Praise God for the work church leaders are doing to bring peace where there is conflict and suffering. Reflect on the divisions you see in society and pray for the church to step into the gap.

Please pray for Pastor Parmenas who attended Tearfund’s innovative Transforming Communities training and, in turn, trained his small congregation. More and more people became interested in the programme and, as a result of the Bible studies, change began to occur in their lives. Through the word of God, people realised their skills and resources and used them to put their prayers for their community into practice. Prayer groups blossomed, children remained in school and food was shared ensuring no one went hungry. The women of the congregation also started a savings scheme, enabling them to generate funds for various projects.

Langham book ‘Leading Well in Times of Disruption’, was published to coincide with the Lausanne Congress in South Korea last month. Pray that this seminal resource will help leaders around the world to grow in 'Christlikeness'.

Pray for Langham’s staff around the world, that they and their families would be refreshed over the Christmas break.
