The International Day of UN Peacekeepers is on 29 May. This week, we pray for our projects where peace is fragile or non-existent. Please pray: for Myanmar: still reeling from March’s devastating earthquake, it faces increased fighting and instability. for our work in Syria, where children traumatised by war receive therapy and care as well as education. for our partners in South Sudan, where tribal warfare throws vulnerable lives into chaos again and again.
Steve is heading to Uganda this week to visit the team there. Pray for his health and safety. Please pray: that Steve’s visit is encouraging for the Uganda team. For the children and families Steve hears from as they share their stories with him. For the young people participating in vocational training to complete their courses and access employment. For our Disability Outreach team as they identify children with disabilities in need of support.
This week we pray for Muthange, our partners in Malawi. Give thanks that they are progressing their NGO registration, enabling us to develop our partnership with them. Please pray: for the team at Muthange as they pursue change in their communities. f or the protection of vulnerable girls from abuse and exploitation. for the continued success of Muthange’s mentoring scheme. Also, give thanks for the Global Care trustees and pray for their meeting on 17th May
We pray for our work in Uganda this week, particularly focusing on our sponsored children. Give thanks for the newly appointed Country Manager David and his team as they passionately serve vulnerablec hildren in their communities. Please pray: for every sponsored child and their family, that access to education breaks generational cycles of poverty. For our focus on valuing girls and children with disabilities, in the face of cultural opposition.
This week we pray for Kiberia, Kenya, where our partners at Spurgeons Academy help vulnerable children access school. Please pray for the 350 children coming to school at Spurgeons every day to learn and grow. For the staff at the school as they help children in the midst of family crisis or experiencing trauma. For the teaching staff as they develop the essential skills they need to escape the poverty cycle.
This week, we pray for our charity shops and UK team Pray for: God’s blessing on charity shop managers Jill and Paula, give thanks for all our generous volunteers and pray for more to join us especially in the shops, our e-commerce team to prosper, recently-joined members of staff in the Coventry HQ to continue to settle in well, good health, energy and inspiration for our fundraising, operations and admin teams, more UK donors and partners.

This week we consider one of the four themes of our Lent Appeal - why education matters - and pray for more learning opportunities for vulnerable children worldwide. Please pray for: Increased inclusion for excluded caste and ethnic groups, increased inclusion for children with disabilities and stigmatised health conditions like HIV/AIDS, children in families who fail to value education, girls facing early marriage, more schools, trained teachers and better access to learning resources.
We pray for our newly-launched Lent Appeal, supporting Dalit families in Patripul. Give thanks for our partners, the GCare Foundation, and their unwavering commitment to Dalit children. Please pray for: Opportunities and fair access to education for children in Patripul, safety for Dalit girls often disregarded even by their families, protection for the staff and GCare Centres against higher caste groups opposing their work, a positive response to our Lent Appeal.
This week, we pray for our partners in Sri Lanka, and for CEO John White’s visit (2-9 March). Please pray for: Safe journeys, energy and good health for John wisdom for the team at our partners Community Concern, the staff and students of the Morning Star Care Centre, the staff and clients of the Kadella Centre supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS, efforts to help women affected by or at risk of domestic abuse and/or trafficking.
