On the 25th November we mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women Please pray for: 1)our partners’ work helping abused women in Sri Lanka 2) protection for young women and girls in all our projects 3) justice / fair legal representation for abused women and girls, especially Dalit girls in India 4) efforts to tackle cultural practices condoning domestic violence 5) greater participation for girls so their needs are seen and voices heard.
This week, pray for our work in Santa Faz, a slum in Guatemala City, the subject of our Christmas Appeal. Please pray for 1) safety for Frank, Paula and the SKD Guatemala team as they work in this dangerous slum 2) continued protection from gangs, that they would continue to leave the project and activities alone 3) safety and progress for the children, at high risk from the temptations of street / gang life 4) a positive response to our Christmas Appeal, aiming to extend this project to help more children.
Please pray for our work in India, which Head of Operations Steve Wicking is visiting (10th - 14th). Please pray for: - health, energy and safe travelling for Steve - positive meetings with Simon, director of the work in Patripul on Tuesday 11th - a positive visit with Emmanuel Ministries in Kolkata from 12th -14th - protection and progress for the marginalised children supported by both of these projects - protection for our Christian partners in a hostile culture.
Please pray with us for our partners in Malawi, Muthange, and their work with marginalised girls. Please pray for: - wisdom for the Muthange team - encouragement for marginalised students supported by the team - positive relationships with local leaders, schools and other local and national authorities - safety for girls living away from home for secondary education - plans to develop accommodation options for vulnerable girls - mentoring groups to positively impact young lives.
Please pray for our partners Emmanuel Ministries, in Kolkata, India, and the children they support. Please pray for: the Emmanuel Ministries team, as a Christian organisation in a hostile political environment the children of the Pavement Club, especially those struggling with very dysfunctional family lives, or chronic illness or disability the children of Calcutta Emmanuel School, giving thanks for the amazing opportunities the school offers children in extreme poverty connections with new children through the outreach team.
Please pray for our partners in Bangladesh, Love Your Neighbour, and the children they support. Give thanks for Washington, director of LYN, and the rest of the Bose family, for their years of commitment to this work. Pray for positive outcomes for: the boys at the Home of Love the children in the community sponsorship programme the children attending Learning Booster Centres the young mentors supporting the children’s learning struggling rural families.
Join us in prayer for our work with girls, remembering the International Day of the Girl (11th October). Pray for: encouragement and positive change for 350+ girls attending Girls Clubs at four primary schools in Rukungiri, Uganda our partners in Malawi and Guatemala and their work mentoring girls protection and opportunities for extremely vulnerable Dalit girls at our projects in India a bright future for sponsored girls at our projects worldwide.
Pray with us for our work in Uganda, for safety, energy and good health for Global Care staff and volunteers as they visit Uganda. Pray for a positive meeting for the Uganda National Board and a positive staff conference with the Ugandan staff team. Pray for journey mercies and safe travel to Soroti and back (9 - 12 October ) and successful meetings and visit. Pray for encouragement for sponsored children across all three centres.
We pray for the Morning Star Care Centre (MSCC) in Sri Lanka, now the focus of our Harvest Appeal. Please pray for: - The headteacher, field officer and staff team of MSCC, giving thanks for their commitment. - Stability and progress for the extremely vulnerable children who attend - Families struggling with loss, poverty and addiction - A positive response to our Harvest Appeal, which launched late due to circumstances forcing a change of focus.
We pray for our partners in Cambodia and the children of the graveyard preschool. Please pray for: - Our partners Bethel Mission Organisation, giving thanks for their commitment to marginalised children. - Effective learning for children attending the preschool. - Families struggling with insecure work, inadequate housing and poor sanitation. - Good integration into local schools for preschool children. - Wisdom in developing this work.
We pray for our partners in Ethiopia, and the project delivering wells for women farmers. Pray for wisdom and blessing for: - our Ethiopian partners, led by Mamo, giving thanks for their vision and commitment. - women and families served by the new completed wells, for them to make the most of this wonderful opportunity. - the as-yet uncompleted wells, for smooth logistics in construction, and in dealing with authorities, land ownership and other issues. - pray for excellent harvests!
