Myanmar

In the first ten days of January we pray for our '50 miles' January walking challenge, raising funds for our work in Myanmar. Please pray for: 1) New & better donor relationships through the 50 miles challenge 2) A good start to fundraising in 2026 3) Safety and protection for our partner DS, travelling in Myanmar 4) Improved opportunities for young people in minority ethnic areas like Kayah and Karen States 5) Peace with justice in Myanmar resources and support for village primary teachers 6) safety for secondary students living away from home to study

This week, as Christmas approaches, pray for the youngest children, born into multi-dimensional poverty, just like Jesus. Please pray for: 1) Mums and babies with inadequate shelter and clothing 2) Babies born displaced from wider communities or families which would usually support them 3) Babies born without healthcare 4) Young families fleeing persecution and targeted acts of violence 5) Child refugees trying to make sense of life in foreign lands, cultures and languages.

Thank God for His protection and provision for the children and staff at Word of Hope Orphanage in Myanmar. Give thanks for recent joyful moments like outings and salvation seminars and pray that every child will grow in faith and experience God’s love in a secure and caring environment. Ask for wisdom and strength for the team as they nurture the children and share Christ’s hope in challenging circumstances.

Myanmar: Mid-November, there is a Level Three seminar happening in Pathein Township, with 20 participants from various churches in the area. Please pray for the facilitators - Seng Aung, Run Nuam Thang, Khawng Lum, Sein Kyi - as they travel, that it can be done smoothly and safely.

On the 25th November we mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women Please pray for: 1)our partners’ work helping abused women in Sri Lanka 2) protection for young women and girls in all our projects 3) justice / fair legal representation for abused women and girls, especially Dalit girls in India 4) efforts to tackle cultural practices condoning domestic violence 5) greater participation for girls so their needs are seen and voices heard.

Praise God for the three-year extension of Word of Hope Orphanage’s government permit, bringing stability to the children and staff. Construction of the new girls’ dormitory and brick fence is now underway - pray for smooth progress and safety. Ask God to bless their two-day salvation seminar during the Tadingyut holiday, and for the children to enjoy a joyful outing as they wait for improvements to their living space.

Thank God for His faithful care at Word of Hope, where children are healthy, attending school and growing in a safe and loving environment. The girls’ dormitory, which has suffered damage over several years due to monsoon flooding, is now set to be rebuilt. Over £57,000 of the £80,000 target has already been raised. Please pray that the cost of materials, which rose significantly after the March earthquake, will return to a manageable level so that construction can begin soon. Give thanks also for the 31 students currently being trained at Hope Bible College and ask God to equip them well as they learn to read, apply and teach Scripture.

Pray for a renewed vision by the Myanmar churches for reaching and helping Rohngas at this time. again God moves where there is poverty and hunger.

Please pray for the work of our alliance partner, CNEC, as they continue their relief work in Myanmar following the earthquake. May God give their teams strength as they reach those in need. Pray that all the children from Hope Orphanage would successfully enrol in school this coming week. Thank God that our ChildAid scheme means their uniform and equipment is fully funded. Pray for the quick and successful completion of the remaining sections of the brick wall fence surrounding Word of Hope’s compound. Pray that this helps the compound to remain safe from the heavy rains in Myanmar.

Praise God that Word of Hope in Myanmar have plans to conduct Salvation Training and Music Training for the children during their summer holidays. Please pray for creativity and wisdom as this is prepared. Praise God for the seven students from Hope Bible College who graduated last month! Pray that God would prepare & guide their next steps into ministry.

Praise God that 15 children from Word of Hope Orphanage in Myanmar received awards from school for their outstanding performance in the last academic year. Thank God for our ChildAid sponsors, who enable these children to have a good education. Ask God to give wisdom, focus and diligence to the children at the Orphanage who are taking their final exams soon. May they work to the best of their ability and get the results they are hoping for. Please commit to prayer the planning of WorldShare’s all-age fundraising event at Rutland Water on 31st May. As the event begins to be advertised to our supporters, pray that many people would be interested in taking part and raising funds for the girls’ dormitory project in Myanmar.

Please pray for: Safety for our partner DS, who plans to visit the Karenni schools we support this month. Our high School students, who travel long distances & live away from home from a young age to progress past primary education. More Karenni children to be able to access education, despite the severe challenges of ongoing civil war. And peace with justice in Myanmar and an end to ethnically-driven persecution.
